Long Distance Moving

Cross-country relocations with cost-effective consolidated shipping.

Leaving Connecticut — or coming home to it — is a different job from a Hartford local move. Distance, cubic feet, and a delivery window matter more than the hour count. Manchester Moving and Storage handles interstate and cross-country work from the same Parker Street warehouse that runs our local crews.

Most long-distance shipments use consolidated space: you pay for the cubic feet your belongings occupy, not for a trailer that is half empty. That keeps cost and fuel use down compared with a dedicated van when the load does not fill a truck.

We still show up with our people at origin. We are not a listing site that auctions your job to a stranger. Onsite inspections are the rule for interstate estimates so the cube count matches what is actually in the house.

How an interstate move is priced

Volume first, then packing, access, and any storage in between. A coordinator walks the origin (or uses a detailed inventory) and converts rooms and furniture into cubic feet. Specialty items — pianos, gun safes, oversized appliances — are called out so they are not a surprise at the dock. If you need a hold in Manchester before the new place is ready, that stay is in our own buildings, not a third-party locker.

What to expect

  1. Request a quote and tell us origin, destination, and a preferred window — not just a single day if the highway schedule is still moving.
  2. We inspect or inventory, then send a written estimate based on cubic feet.
  3. Load day: pad, wrap, and load. Your shipment rides with other freight only when that is the product you chose.
  4. Delivery on the agreed window. We can hold in Manchester if keys slip.
